We are pleased to announce that David Rice has accepted the position of president and chief executive officer of Associated Food Stores.
As you know, the move comes following the unexpected passing of Robert Obray, who was serving as president and CEO when he passed away from a rare and fast-moving neurological disease in August of this year. Since that time, David Rice and Roger White have admirably conducted CEO responsibilities and duties. We are incredibly appreciative of David and Roger and the work they have done to lead the team during this challenging time.
As David takes the helm, we anticipate not missing a beat as we collectively drive our vision, goals and key initiatives forward. David brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position. He combines extensive expertise and a commitment to independent retailers that is vital as we continue executing our short and long-term growth strategies. David’s proven ability to connect with retailers, team members and vendor partners make him an ideal fit to lead Associated Food Stores and we are energized and enthusiastic about the future of our cooperative under his leadership.
As your AFS Board of Directors, we fully endorse David and the entire AFS team. The excitement throughout our organization is tangible. We feel it in every part of “One Associated” and are confident we will continue to thrive as a unified team.
