At the recent Annual Meeting and FoodShow, AFS unveiled its new learning management system (LMS), Learning Hub, signaling a significant step forward in providing comprehensive training programs for AFS retailers. With an initial focus on building safety and compliance training to mitigate risk and liability, Learning Hub is poised to revolutionize how our retailers approach workforce development. The platform is built on Docebo, a leading learning management system known for its ability to engage learners, streamline workflows, simplify content management, integrate with other learning technologies, and drive positive business outcomes.

Having a skilled and adaptable workforce is more critical than ever in today’s rapidly evolving retail landscape. Learning Hub addresses this need by offering a wide range of training modules designed to enhance retail team member knowledge and skills. From tobacco and alcohol training to workplace safety and equipment training, Learning Hub covers essential areas that are vital for maintaining compliance and operational excellence in the retail industry. Chad Harvey, AFS’s in-house training specialist, has been hard at work to fill this rapidly growing training library.

Moreover, Learning Hub goes beyond basic training by offering departmental operations training for perishable departments, front-end operations, receiving disciplines, and fundamental retail concepts like Supermarket Math. These specialized courses are tailored to address the unique challenges and requirements of each department, ensuring that team members are well-equipped to excel in their roles. Bret Gallacher, the communications and public relations manager who is heading this project, is excited about the potential impact it can have on team culture. “I am confident that this platform will not only enhance our team’s skills and knowledge but also foster a culture of continuous learning and growth within our organization.”

By leveraging Learning Hub, AFS retailers can create a skilled and progressive workforce that is not only capable of meeting current demands but also prepared to adapt to future challenges. To ensure that the content remains relevant and up-to-date, Learning Hub will evaluate and refresh its existing content annually to adapt to changing industry trends and compliance requirements. With Learning Hub, AFS is empowering its retailers to build a workforce that is not just competent but also poised to grow and improve.
