$2K in funds raised to support the leading cause of death for women: heart disease

On Valentine’s Day at the Corporate Office this year, the team celebrated more than the traditional day of red and pink hearts, flowers, and candy. Instead, the team raised awareness about the 1-5 women in the United States who will die from a condition related to heart disease, and raising dollars to benefit the American Heart Association (AHA).

Team members from across the organization came to support this worthwhile cause – some organizing the brunch, some cooking and setting it up, and others in taking a payroll deduction for a lovely stack of heart-healthy Kodiak Cake pancakes with a topping of fruit.

In total, members of the team fundraised $2,000, with 100% of proceeds being donated to AHA, which will be donated to the Go Red for Women campaign.

In addition to the breakfast, the team also assembled a raffle, with prizes ranging from overnight hotel stays to gift baskets. This event served as a wonderful reminder that at AFS, team members come together to support worthy causes, form meaningful connections, and celebrate delicious, healthy food.
