Representative Celeste Maloy and her staff joined team members from Harmons and Associated Food Stores on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at the Farr West Distribution Center. Members of the Congresswoman’s staff enjoyed seeing the banana ripening rooms, driving (and not stopping) through the freezer area, and seeing the progress AFS has made with Project ROAR.
Congresswoman Maloy joined the group for a round-table meeting, where conversations included the need for PBM reform, challenges retailers face with credit card processing fees and the Robinson-Patman Act.
Amongst the policy issues, Maloy was incredibly passionate about PBM reform and reassured the AFS team that she is doing all she can to help move federal policy, working alongside Buddy Carter, a pharmacist who is sponsoring HR 4317, the PBM Reform Act.
“Meeting with our elected officials and voicing our opinions about pending legislation can help drive changes that will benefit our industry. HR 4317 will help us better negotiate contracts with Medicare Part D plans by requiring CMS to define ‘reasonable and relevant’ contract terms,” said Greg Jones, director of pharmacy and Health/Wellness for Harmons.
The Congresswoman ended the tour by jumping inside one of the AFS trucks, (where she found joy in pulling the horn) and a group photo.
Those who joined the tour included Greg Jones and Scott Lewis from Harmons, Dave Davis with Utah Food Industry Association, David Rice, Justin Atwater, Darin Peirce, Chris Sheard, Tony Merrill, Justin Johnson and Sarah Pettit.
