More than a century after the Soelberg family entered the grocery business in Grantsville, Soelberg’s Market is preparing to celebrate the grand opening of a new store built with its hometown roots in mind.
The grand-opening celebration is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 22, at 9:00 a.m., at the new Soelberg’s Market, 274 S. Matthews Lane in Grantsville.
The roughly 60,000-square-foot development includes a 46,600-square-foot Soelberg’s Market, 12,480-square-foot Ace Hardware, 1,000-square-foot Birch Family Pharmacy and 486-square-foot Beans & Brews.
While the store is new, its connection to Grantsville is not. Soelberg’s history in the community stretches back more than a century, beginning when Danish immigrant Karl Soelberg entered the grocery business in Grantsville in the early 1900s. The family later expanded with a second location in nearby Stansbury Park in 2011.

That history is reflected throughout the new store.
“We’ve been very intentional in both the exterior and interior design to reflect our roots in the community, dating back to 1905,” storeowner Carol Jefferies said. “You’ll see that influence throughout the store.”
The store features a modern farm-style design, including a silo where guests can sit and eat. Perimeter departments have been named for places from Grantsville’s history, while store aisles carry the names of some of the community’s first streets.
The project brought together teams and partners from across Associated Food Stores. Thursday’s celebration marks the latest chapter for a family-owned grocery business that has called Grantsville home for generations.
