Josh Christensen was recently named director of Exclusive Brands at Associated Food Stores (AFS). The announcement came a few weeks after Boyd Irving transitioned to vice president of center store.

Josh has been with AFS for 28 years and brings experience from multiple parts of the company including center store retail operations, advertising, shopper marketing, category management and most recently in his role as data analytics manager.

Josh is motivated by opportunities to change and grow personally, professionally and as part of a team. His passion for learning, improving and contributing meaningfully through his work has shown in his career.

“Josh’s experience and his willingness to learn make him the right candidate for this role,” said Boyd Irving, vice president of center store. “I’m excited to see our Exclusive Brands continue to grow under his leadership.”

When asked what excited him most his new role Josh shared, “I’m excited about the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping shape how the brand is experienced. It’s a chance to bring fresh energy and ideas, collaborate with talented teams, and contribute to something that really connects with people. I’m looking forward to the challenges, the creativity, and the growth that comes with this role.”

His goal is to help our brands grow and evolve. He wants to bring a fresh perspective, support cross-team collaboration and help create experiences that resonate with people, as he continues to grow and learn in the role.

The people-first and family-oriented culture at AFS is one of the reasons Josh enjoys working here.

“The relationship-first atmosphere makes it easy to stay engaged, connected and bring my best to the team,” Josh said.

Josh and his wife have three children and two grandchildren. They enjoy connecting and making memories, especially by spending time together outdoors camping or glamping.
