Each year, Associated Food Stores conducts a team member survey to assess sentiment and receive suggestions about how the company is doing and what opportunities for improvement exist.

Questions range from how team members feel about their workplace and leadership to the benefits of communication.

“The team member survey is an incredibly important tool to help ensure we focus on the things that matter most to our team,” said Tim Conner, senior vice president of team services. “We take responses very seriously and are grateful to the many team members who take the time to respond to the questions.”

The goal is to receive completed surveys from at least 75 percent of the team, a number that has been reached in the past. This year, about 56 percent of the team participated.

One of the most important questions, often called “the ultimate question” by researchers assesses how likely a current team member is to recommend Associated Food Stores to friends or family as a place to work. Overall, team members provided an 8.34 score out of a possible 10 on the “ultimate question,” a score that is considered very good and a near identical score to the previous year’s score of 8.36.

“We are pleased with the positive scores, but also recognize the need for continued improvement,” said Tim. “We know there is an ongoing need to progress and appreciate everyone’s contributions to making Associated Food Stores a great place to work.”

Findings for other questions are still being analyzed. Ryan Ogden, Associated Food Stores’ research specialist, gathers the data, analyzes the responses and tabulates the scores so executive team members and others can incorporate feedback and suggestions into future plans.

Team members who completed the survey could enter to win an iPad. At the distribution center in Farr West, Corey Brinton, Salvador Rodarte, Javier Gomez and Derrick LaPee won tablets. At the corporate office, Esmeralda Colon and Jamie Navarro also won.
