A new locally owned grocery store opened its doors Wednesday, giving south Cache Valley residents another option for fresh food and everyday necessities.
Sam Patch Grocers & Sundries, located at 825 E. Main Street just northeast of Maverik, officially began serving customers after months of preparation and construction. The store is owned by Mike Baldwin of Wellsville and Jason Hurd of Tremonton and is part of Associated Food Stores.
The Wellsville location is the second Sam Patch Grocers & Sundries. The first store operates in Island Park, Idaho.
The market features produce, fresh-cut meats and household staples, along with what the owners describe as a hands-on, neighborly approach to customer service. The company also partnered with Chevron, allowing shoppers to fill up at the adjacent fuel station during their visit.
“A grocery store should feel like part of the town fabric,” the company said. “Our goal is to offer a place where families feel welcome and supported.”
Sam Patch will operate from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sundays. Baldwin and Hurd said they spent several months renovating and stocking the building, aiming to provide a convenient, dependable destination for Wellsville households.
