Associated Food Stores (AFS) is announcing leadership changes in its information technology department, including the retirement of long-time Chief Information Officer Wade Judd and the appointment of a new CIO.

Wade, who has been with AFS for more than 40 years, will retire in January. Over his career, he helped guide the cooperative through multiple technology transformations, from the full adoption of retail point-of-sale systems to the rollout of enterprise solutions that benefit hundreds of independent grocers. He played a key role in strengthening AFS’ data security, modernizing networks and ensuring retailers had access to the tools needed to compete in a changing marketplace.

Chad Cameron, a veteran of AFS since 2001, will step into the role of chief information officer following Wade’s retirement. Chad has extensive experience across the company and is expected to continue building on AFS’ technology strategy while maintaining operational stability across its systems.

“I have full confidence in Chad’s ability to lead our IT department forward,” Wade said. “He knows the company, the team and our technology inside and out, and he’s ready for this opportunity.”

Supporting Chad in the IT department are key leaders with deep experience in retail technology. Scott Phillips will take over as vice president of information technology and has been with AFS for 13 years, with prior experience in the Lee’s organization. Scott will oversee all aspects of retail technology, including strategic retail-facing systems, enterprise technical opportunities, service-level agreement compliance, vendor relations, and workforce management systems.

Cameron Bradford is the new director of retail technology. He began his career at Macey’s, where he discovered a passion for technology, and brings 30 years of experience managing systems that keep stores running smoothly. Cameron will manage the day-to-day operations of retail-facing technology systems, including point-of-sale and back-office systems, data workflows, payments, technical training and quality assurance.

“Scott and Cameron are not only invaluable for today but to ensure our members have a competitive advantage through technology for years to come” Chad said. “Their expertise and leadership will ensure a smooth transition and continued innovation for our retail members.”

With these leadership transitions, AFS aims to continue delivering innovative technology solutions while maintaining reliable support for its retailers and members.
