ARO stores, and the larger Associated Food Stores family are helping their communities celebrate Independence Day with festive food, patriotic displays and meaningful acts of service.

At Macey’s, Lin’s, Dick’s Market, Dan’s and Fresh Market locations, guests can find holiday favorites like star-shaped donuts, fresh-baked cookies and the signature peanut butter bars that have become a staple at many July 4 gatherings.

“Customers look forward to our holiday treats every year,” said Jill Carter, ARO bakery sales manager. “The star donuts are always a fun plus-up and our peanut butter bars have become a must-have for any patriotic gathering.”

In addition to bakery items, stores are well stocked with classic American grilling essentials, from hamburger patties and hot dogs to fresh corn, watermelon and deli trays making it easy for families to host backyard barbecues and neighborhood picnics. Many locations also feature patriotic displays with flags, paper goods and fireworks, helping guests create festive celebrations from start to finish.

AFS’s distribution center in Farr West shows its patriotism year-round with several custom-designed trailers decked out in red, white and blue. The newest trailer design, added last year, is often used for parades, food drives and military appreciation events.

“Many of our drivers love pulling those trailers,” said Wayne Kinder, transportation manager. “They reflect our commitment to the communities we serve and our country.”

Earlier this year, Kent’s Market, an AFS member, organized an incredibly successful military support drive, gathering groceries for service members and their families. The annual event is an incredible example of how independent grocers strengthen their communities all year.

As a retailer-owned cooperative, Associated Food Stores benefits from the free-enterprise system that allows independent stores to compete and thrive. AFS’ member owners are impressive examples of the American Dream, with local grocers building successful businesses, creating jobs and giving back to the neighborhoods they serve. It’s that same entrepreneurial spirit that fuels innovation and community connection at every level, from store teams to distribution center teams to corporate team members.
