Lin’s Market in Overton served as a primary sponsor of the Clark County Fair and Rodeo “Mutton Busting” competition for young children.

Mutton busting is a popular rodeo event where young children attempt to ride a sheep for as long as possible, typically aiming for at least six to eight seconds. Often described as a “safer” alternative to bull or bronc riding, it serves as an introduction to rodeo culture for children usually between the ages of 3 and 7.

Winners received custom belt buckles, and the event drew strong participation from families across the region. Total attendance for the weeklong fair exceeded 100,000 visitors from across the western United States.

Store Director Jesse Jenson and his team led a community meal effort during the event. Team members helped serve more than 300 Title 1 school children over a five-day period. Vendor partners Bimbo Bakeries USA and Frito-Lay supported the effort by donating some product.

Lin’s Overton has sponsored this event for several years and team members enjoy the opportunity to serve the community. Team members readily volunteered their time outside of scheduled work hours.

Lin’s Regional Manager Steve Holm noted the importance of these efforts. “Events like this matter to our team,” he said. “We live in these communities, and we care about the people we serve. This event pulls at the heart strings of the Moapa Valley community and we’re proud to be a part of it.”

These actions reflect Lin’s ongoing focus on community connection through service, support, and local involvement. To read more, click here.
