AFS and Macey’s Help Thousands Through Thanksgiving Heroes

November 25, 2025
AFS and Macey’s once again partnered with Thanksgiving Heroes Salt Lake City to support their mission of ensuring no empty tables on Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving Heroes is dedicated to helping those experiencing food insecurity in Utah.

Duwayne Warren, Todd Bell, Steve Skinner, AFS Driver Jr. Payne and many team members who work with them played major roles in coordinating logistics and ensuring product was delivered on time and in full. Alan Russell, Macey’s Holladay store leader and Guy Howe, Macey’s Holladay assistant store leader also played major roles.

Steve Skinner, AFS director of center store value chain, shared his appreciation for the partnership. “Seeing so many people come together to support families in need is genuinely inspiring, especially with the current challenges surrounding SNAP and WIC benefits,” he said. “We’re proud to play a part in making Thanksgiving brighter for thousands of Utah families. Providing 2,800 Thanksgiving meals to households facing food insecurity is a tremendous accomplishment, and I’m extremely proud to be affiliated with Thanksgiving Heroes. AFS and Macey’s played a key role in making this event such a success.”

On Saturday, November 22, Thanksgiving Heroes hosted “THE BIG DAY”—a heartwarming gathering that brought together more than 1,000 volunteers from all walks of life. Volunteers served as delivery drivers, box packers, route makers and traffic controllers. Their combined dedication ensured every detail was handled with care and precision throughout the event

This year’s impact was truly meaningful, with families across 12 school districts receiving support. In total, more than 2,000 families received Thanksgiving meal boxes filled with the essentials for a festive holiday. “Food Club” and “Beehive” brand products were once again stars of every box, providing quality items families could trust and enjoy.

Macey’s added a personal touch by providing doughnuts, juice and other breakfast items to fuel the hardworking volunteers. This year’s effort drew local news coverage that highlighted the community’s generosity and the impact of the event. News coverage can be viewed here and here.
