Associated Food Stores held a ceremony in the lobby of the corporate office to honor veterans today.

Denise Ward coordinated meaningful and well-attended program for team members. It began with an energetic reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance, led by AFS team member Lori Peterson.

Lori was also the main speaker and shared heartfelt thoughts about the significance of Veterans Day. Part of her remarks included a reading of the poem “In Flanders Field” by John McCrae. Her thoughts provided a valuable reminder of the sacrifices made by those who serve and the legacy they leave for years to come.

Many team members at the corporate office, the distribution center and in retail are veterans themselves or have close family members who have served.

The ceremony wrapped up with a tribute to all team members and family members who have served in the Armed Forces, followed by a quick gathering with patriotic cookies. It was a simple, sincere moment for the AFS family to come together, show their gratitude and recognize the veterans and active service members who continue to serve the country.
