Along with other changes, Associated Food Stores recently announced that Cameron Bradford has been promoted to director of retail technology. Cameron brings nearly 30 years of experience in grocery retail and technology his new assignment.

Cameron got his start in the grocery business at 16, bagging groceries at Macey’s in Orem in 1996. Over the years, he worked his way up to cashier, supervisor and front-end manager before joining Associated Food Stores’ Retail Technology Help Desk in 2004. He later moved to the Technology Account Manager group.

“Having worked on both the retail and warehouse sides has helped me understand the processes and manage projects that matter most to our retailers,” Cameron said. “I’ve also had some amazing role models I’ve been able to learn from, like Byron Goodwin, Paul Pugh and our new CIO, Chad Cameron.”

Throughout his career, Cameron has helped implement several major technology solutions for AFS retailers, including BRdata, RORC 5.2, RORCv6, and RORCv7. He also supported the conversion of several Albertsons stores to Fresh Market and helped grow the AFS technology install base to more than 300 stores.

In his new role, Cameron said he looks forward to helping retailers stay competitive through new and improved technology. “I’m excited to continue working with one of the best teams at AFS and to play a role in bringing in technology that allows our stores to compete and be successful,” he said.

His goals for the next year include growing the install base and working closely with partners to provide solutions that benefit retailers and their guests.

Cameron said the fast pace of change keeps him motivated. “I love how technology keeps evolving. Things we couldn’t imagine 10 years ago are commonplace today,” he said. “It’s amazing to see how these changes help us support our retailers and, in turn, how our retailers serve their guests.”

When asked what sets AFS apart, Cameron pointed to the people. “It’s the team that makes the difference,” he said. “We really do have the best of the best, and that’s why we stand out.”

Outside of work, Cameron enjoys spending time with his wife, Sherri, and their three daughters. The couple met as baggers at Macey’s and will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary next year. The family enjoys camping, lake trips and watching movies together.

Cameron is a fan of Chinese food and local sandwich shops, especially Sensuous Sandwich in Orem, which he jokingly calls “a requirement to get into heaven.”

Looking back on his career, Cameron said he feels grateful to be part of an organization that values people and progress. “You’re going to meet and work with awesome people and a company that really cares about what we do and how we do it,” he said. “Buckle up and enjoy the ride.”
