Halloween is here, and across Utah, and the other states serviced by Associated Food Stores, the celebration is in full swing. From trick-or-treaters to festive gatherings, the day is all about candy, costumes and spooky fun. As always, AFS is making the most of the holiday by helping guests make their Halloween celebrations memorable.

Research shows chocolate is the clear favorite in Utah as classics like Reese’s, Snickers and Kit Kat are top sellers. Gummy candies, especially sour varieties, are also in high demand. Utah households spend an average of $35 per person on Halloween candy each year. Pumpkin-shaped chocolates and seasonal décor are adding an extra festive touch. Today, stores are bustling with last-minute shoppers grabbing treats for trick-or-treaters, and maybe a few for themselves.

Stores are filled with Halloween decorations, pumpkins, cobwebs and ghostly displays. Seasonal sections featuring candy, decorations and party supplies are helping guests make their celebrations extra special. Nearly 60 percent of shoppers are drawn to creative in-store setups when making seasonal purchases. Eye-catching displays delight guests and boost seasonal sales.

Along with candy, many guests are exploring pumpkin-flavored snacks, caramel apples and Halloween-themed popcorn or snack mixes. Bakery treats are also extremely popular. These options are perfect solutions for those hosting parties or looking for something beyond traditional candy. Utah ranks among the top 10 states for pumpkin purchases each October, with families buying pumpkins for both carving and seasonal recipes.

Halloween is not just for guests. Across offices, the distribution center and retail locations, AFS, ARO and MRO team members are dressing up and embracing the season. Next week, Team News will showcase the creative costumes and festive spirit brought to life by the many teams across AFS during today’s holiday fun.
