For many, the pharmacy is a stop on the way home, a quick errand, a refill or a routine. But for one bride the morning of her wedding it became much more.

Recently, with only an hour before she needed to be at her own wedding, a bride walked into the pharmacy at Dick’s Market Centerville, overwhelmed, in pain, and running on two hours of sleep. She had developed a painful condition the night before and was feeling desperate.

Jenny, a pharmacy technician, was on staff and ready to help. When the bride broke down in tears, Jenny calmly walked her through the process of getting care. Dan, the pharmacist, joined in with the same kindness and efficiency.

The distressed bride-to-be was evaluated using a clinical standing order and prescribed the antibiotic she needed without the wait and without additional stress.

She left the pharmacy on time and made it to her wedding.

The very next day, the bride’s sister returned with a sunflower arrangement the bride had hand-picked to thank the team.

“This is what community pharmacy looks like,” Rachael Midkiff, ARO operations manager. “This story is a great example of our team members excelling at their jobs, and connecting with their communities, to make a real difference in their lives”

“It’s not just about filling prescriptions. It’s about showing up, listening, and caring, often at the moments people least expect but most need it,” said Denise Kunkel director of pharmacy clinical services. “For many, the local pharmacy is the most accessible healthcare provider, offering convenient clinical services without long waits or appointments.”
